Lesson Description
In two hours this workshop will teach you how to capture anything from your screen for still or video playback . You will create an online account to post your video. You will be able to augment your classroom instruction with reusable instruction units that you can hone to "perfection."
By the end of this workshop, you should be able to assist your students in using Jing to both view your teaching modules and to produce personal Jings to demonstrate and reinforce their understanding of skills they have been taught. A Jing assignment may be used to challenge students to learn new skills and then share them with the class.
What is Jing?
Jing is free software makes it possible to capture still and video screen shots and store them on either the web, your hard drive or a network hard drive. Jing was developed as The Jing Project by TechSmith the creator of Camtasia and considered the leader in screen capture software. Previously video screen capture software was very costly, reasonably complicated to learn, and used primarily by universities and business. With the ubiquitous spread of tablets, teachers and students may now realize the benefits of online capture. Jing comes with a complimentary Screencast.com account providing 2 GB of storage and 2 GB of transfer bandwidth per month.
