Academic Portal

Project

An Intranet portal designed to provide easy access to all research and academic needs of faculty and students.

Context

When the school's Internet website was outsourced to a professional design group, a need arose for an easier interface for academic users and designers.

Conditions

  • A collaborative effort between technology, English and library staffs.
  • FrontPage was required software.
  • Designed and maintained by one individual.

Scope

  • Project was successfully implemented over three years ago and has undergone dynamic modifications since then.
  • Library staff gradually learned to maintain and modify their content.
  • Student and faculty web pages are easily accessed thereby eliminating the need to remember cumbersome addresses.
  • Technical training materials have been centralized.

Role

  • Provides a base for developing exemplary learning objects, with much training provided as both print and video.
  • Enhanced student access to Writing Workshop.
