"History through Interviews"

Building a Primary Source Resource

Project

Juniors interviewed teachers and grove owners, transplanted Northerners and Seminoles, Baptists and Jews, constructing a multi-dimensional portrait of Florida's Treasure Coast in the twentieth century and building a history of their home area.

Context

A collaborative effort between technology and an English teacher for a first class web project.

Conditions

  • FrontPage was required software.
  •  Template was designed in advance of student instruction.
  • Classroom time was limited. A team of skilled FrontPage users created the navigation structure.

Scope

  • Project successfully depicted local history and was repeated and added to the following year.

Role

  • Working in collaboration with an English teacher, I created a template for student input.
  • I trained students in FrontPage basics and photo manipulation.
